Alabama Update – 7:20 a.m.
A solid area of rain and some embedded thunderstorms continues eastward this morning. The leading edge has reached western Alabama.
At 7:05, the leading edge extends from Limestone, Lawrence and Winston Counties, down through Marion, Fayette, Tuscaloosa and into Sumter Counties.
Only isolated pcokets of lightning associated with the line north of Meridian.
There is a tornado warning for Clarke County, which is across the border from CHoctaw County Alabama, where Butler is located.
A tornado watch extends from Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Dallas and Autauga Counties southward until 1 p.m.
Winds are strong across the area this morning. Not far off the surface, winds are screaming at 60 mph. A lake wind advisory is in effect and this advisory mnight have to be upgraded according to the NWS.
Instability levels are just not high enough over North and North Central Alabama to support severe weather this morning. The question will be whether more storm development happens this afternoon before the cold front moves in this evening. Moisture levels will continue to increase through the day and will some heating, instability values may be supportive of severe weather this afternoon over all but Northwest Alabama.
The best chance for severe weather will be over South Central sections of the state and mainly later today as the airmass continues to destablize ahead of a strong cold front which a pretty good chance as far north as Birmingham with lesser chances further north. Tornadoes will be possible from about Marengo County to Chilton County over to Randolph County and points south.
The new convective outlook is out from the Storm Prediction Center and it covers all but Northwest Alabama.
Monitor the latest weather information throughout the day as this weather situation continues to develop.

I hope you all don’t have to deal with what Tennessee did a week or two ago. Only a good soaking rain is what Alabama needs.

I agree Clay. Due to an issue with my station here in Alabaster, I had to go outside for a bit to try to solve the problem. Doesn’t feel “juicy” enough.
Currently 60 deg dewpoint 56 here in Alabaster near Thompson Rd. Nice and breezy with wind speeds avg 3-5 mph.
Question for Davis Vantage Pro 2 station owners……
My station is stating that my battery in station 1 is low. I just changed this battery last month, and again last night. Wondering why the reading is still there? Anyone else have this problem?
