Rain Gets Closer

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today due to travel**

RAIN ALMOST HERE: See the Jackson, MS NEXRAD image at mid-afternoon…

Jackson NWS actually issue a tornado warning for Rankin County, for two small spinups along the leading edge of the line of storms. This was near and just west of Pelahatchie and moving across I-20 around 2:05. SPC continues a tornado watch for parts of Central and South Mississippi through 6:00 p.m.

HERE IN ALABAMA: It is another warm day, although clouds have increased this afternoon, and temperatures are generally in the upper 70s and low 80s. A few showers are entering Southwest Alabama as I write this around 2:15.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: Not much change in the overall idea. We will forecast a good chance of showers and thunderstorms both days, with rain amounts of one inch likely; heavier totals, perhaps to two inches, are possible near the Mississippi border. The 12Z NAM is printing 1.09″ for Birmingham. Severe weather still does not look likely with marginal lapse rates, instability, and dynamic support, and SPC does not have any part of Alabama in a severe weather risk for now. Looks like highs in the 70s both days with only a very limited amount of sunshine.

THE WEEKEND: Showers should thin out greatly Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds. Then, Sunday promises to be a beautiful day with a sunny sky and lower humidity. The high Saturday will be around 80, but it will drop into the mid 70s Sunday.

Dry weather continues into early next week. You can see the morning Weather Xtreme video for more long range ideas.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
