Classic Flying Eagle Radar Signature

| April 14, 2012 @ 7:09 pm

Another tornado on the ground in Kansas. This one closer to Wichita and threatening Hutchinson.

It shows the classic “flying eagle” radar signature.

Imagine the “wings” coming out to the northeast, the head in highest reflectivity just northeast of Pretty Prairie, where large hail is falling and the tail is the hook echo.

It indicates a storm that is under strong “venting” aloft, caused by very strong winds at high altitude. This helps the storm maintain a powerful updraft.

ANOTHER DISTURBING REPORT ABOUT SPOTTERS
Saline County KS law enforcement just reported over scanner that they have so many chasers it is causing a hazard.
