WeatherBrains Episode 345 is now online (September 4, 2012). If you are crazy about weather, this is THE netcast audio program for you!

Tonight’s Guest WeatherBrains are James and Daphne LaDue. Both are educators and weather researchers.

Jim is an educator at the Warning Decision Training Branch in Norman, Oklahoma. He trains meteorologists on how to use radar and satellite data so they may produce more accurate forecasts and warnings. He develops new techniques for combining satellite and radar data. He is a WB alum, having appeared on show 300 last year.

Daphne is the Director & Principal Investigator of the National Weather Center Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program at the University of Oklahoma. And she is collaborating on a series of projects that integrate users into the development of the MultiFunction Phased Array Radar. She is employed by OU’s Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms.

They both have been to Birmingham in the past year, Jim for NWA and Daphne for WeatherReady Nation.

Also participating in this edition is Jeff Wilcox from Iowa and Chester Lamkin of KSDK, St. Louis, MO.

Other discussions in this weekly podcast include topics like:

  • Extremes: 116 in Death Valley, CA, and 26 at Stanley, ID
  • JB stays muted for the weather summary
  • and more!

Our email bag officer is continuing to handle the incoming messages from our listeners.
