**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

DEEP SOUTH HABOOB? The dust layer over North Alabama is left over from yesterday’s big dust storm over the Great Plains. The dust is generally below 5,000 feet… see the ceilometer plot from UAH…

Here is a high resolution satellite image showing the dust…

See how the dust looks in Huntsville today, compared to regular visibility….

Winds are gusting to 30 mph over North Alabama this times this afternoon with a surge of cool, dry air moving into the state; those winds will die down early tonight.

The dust plume will move east of Alabama this evening, but will have the potential to bring a great sunset. Be sure and watch the western horizon from around 6:00 to 6:15.

FINE WEEKEND: Very simple forecast, with sunny mild days and clear chilly nights. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 40s. Probably some 30s for colder valleys early tomorrow. Much like this morning; our Skywatcher at Black Creek, near Gadsden, dropped t0 36 degrees with a touch of light frost.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Look for a clear sky tonight for the high school football games, with temperatures falling from the mid 60s at kickoff into the cool 50s by the second half of the games.

Tomorrow, Auburn travels to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (11:21 a.m. kickoff).. the sky will be totally cloudless with temperatures rising from the low 60s at kickoff into the mid to upper 60s by the fourth quarter. Alabama is also in the Volunteer State… they take on the Tennessee Vols (6:00 p.m. kickoff); the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from 60 at kickoff into the upper 40s by the final whistle.

UAB will host East Carolina at 6:00 tomorrow evening at Legion Field… the sky will be clear; the kickoff temperature close to 68, falling into the 50s by the second half.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, clear nights through early next week along the Gulf Coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Highs on the coast will be in the 77 to 80 degree range; lows in the 50s and low 60s.
