Tropical Storm Sandy & TD Nineteen

| October 22, 2012 @ 4:26 pm

Tropical Depression eighteen has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Sandy. Winds are sustained at 40mph. Sandy is nearly stationary as she sits in the central Caribbean. She is expected to slowly gain strength over the next few days as she begins to move north over Jamaica, eastern Cuba and the Bahamas.

Additionally, we now have Tropical Depression Nineteen in the central Atlantic. This feature is moving to the north a 7 mph with sustained winds of 35 mph. It should continue on this track before making a northeast turn tomorrow and then rapidly head off towards Europe. If TD 19 becomes a storm, it will be named Tony.
