Another Windy And Cool Day

ON THE MAP: The deep surface low formerly known as Hurricane Sandy is on the Pennsylvania/Maryland border this morning, and is still producing lots of wind and rain over the northeast quarter of the nation. Actually some of the highest wind is now over the Great Lakes, where gusts to gale force are common over water. Big time snow is still falling over the mountains of West Virginia, with snow flakes as far west as Cincinnati. Some snow is expected today as far south as Bristol and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
THE ALABAMA STORY: Most of Alabama will have another windy and cool day with a good supply of sunshine. But, the northeast corner of the state around Jackson and DeKalb Counties might see some clouds rotating in there from the north. Temperatures will remain well below average for October with highs in the 50s.
FROSTY MORNING TOMORROW: The wind will finally begin to die down tonight, and we expect lows in the 30s tomorrow morning, with good potential for frost in many areas, and a freeze for the colder valleys.
TRICK OR TREAT WEATHER: Looks perfect for the little ghosts and goblins tomorrow evening; the sky will be clear with temperatures falling through the 50s during the evening. Probably reaching the 40s by 9 p.m.
THURSDAY-SATURDAY: These three days look delightful as we kick off the month of November, with sunny pleasant days and clear chilly nights. We will be in the 60s Thursday and Friday, and have a chance of reaching the 70s Saturday. Should be a great day to kick off the weekend.
NEXT CHANCE OF SHOWERS: The 00Z GFS is a little faster with the next front, hinting that showers will be possible across North Alabama Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, and into Monday morning. Moisture looks limited, and rain amounts should be on the light side. Drier air returns Tuesday, but not much colder.
STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is coming up November 10 at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 3:00. And, as a “thank you”, you will get free admission into the car show. There is no cost, and no need to register, just show up. Brian Peters will be the trainer, and we ask all existing and potential Skywatchers to attend. Kevin Laws of the Birmingham NWS will do a session on dual-pol radar. See you there!
