Busy day out in the nation’s mid-section today and Alabama will be under the gun tomorrow. Here is a quick look at 8:30 tonight:

ALABAMA
Very quiet although some light showers were over the NW part of the state. We will be under a threat of severe weather tomorrow. Probably the best chance from around mid-day into the evening. We will fine tune that time window later.

TO OUR WEST
Light showers over NW Mississippi. However the nearest strong thunderstorms to Alabama at 8:30 pm was a line of thunderstorms from NE Texas northward through SW and Central Arkansas. Other very strong thunderstorms over East Oklahoma.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOKS
REST OF TONIGHT: Slight risk:
NE Texas
All but NW Oklahoma
All of Arkansas (a state that had 11 tornadoes last Friday)
North half of Louisiana
Extreme NW Mississippi
Extreme West Tennessee
SE Missouri
Within that area there is a relatively small “Moderate Risk” for:
Extreme NE Texas
Extreme SE Oklahoma
Extreme SW Arkansas including Texarkana
Northwest corner of Louisiana near Shreveport

THURSDAY SLIGHT RISK
Western Kansas
Southeast states from east of Memphis and Vicksburg eastward all the way to the coastal sections of both Carolinas and Virginia. This includes most of Alabama and Georgia

TORNADO WATCH
In effect until midnight for:
East Oklahoma
Extreme NE Texas
Extreme NW Louisiana
Extreme West Arkansas
(So far today and this evening, no PDS Watches (Particularly Dangerous Situation)

STORM REPORTS TODAY
4 tornadoes
35 hail reports
22 wind reports
Most reports were from North Texas and Oklahoma
One tornado a long way northward at Casper, Wyo., where a car was lifted off the ground and surrounded by debris.

2.80 Gurthrie, Okla.
2.20 Oklahoma City
