Heavy Rain in Areas

| January 13, 2013 @ 7:24 pm

Heavy rain continues to fall across many portions of Central Alabama this evening. The heaviest activity is lined up along Interstate 59 from De Kalb County through Gadsden, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa to about Meridian. The activity will continue to push east, but will begin to slow as the frontal system slows down. We should expect rain for several day as the cold front gets into the state making for some raw days ahead. In Central Alabama, Cullman County remains under a Flash Flood Warning until 11:30 PM. Numerous other area are under areal flood advisories, which have been issued as the heavy rainfall causes increased runoff for drainage systems and is causing some flooding through out certain areas. Make sure if you are out and about this evening and overnight that you slow it down a little bit as roads have significant water ponding on them. Remember if you encounter a flooded roadway, TURN AROUND, DON”T DROWN.
