Wet and Stormy Afternoon

| February 10, 2013 @ 3:18 pm

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are impacting much of North Central Alabama this afternoon. Some of the heaviest activity is working through the Birmingham Metro now. Heavy rains is falling in many areas. No severe weather in Alabama currently, but there are numerous tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in southern Mississippi. That activity is working east and will be into Alabama in the next few hours.

It looks as though we could be looking at a significant flooding threat in many areas. A flash flood watch goes into effect fro much of Central Alabama later this evening and will last into at least Monday morning. Many areas could receive several inches of rain from this event. This activity is slowing down, as most of the energy with this system is pretty far to the north in the Midwest. Looks as though  it will be a very wet evening and night across a lot of Alabama and the Southest.
