CHILLY MORNING: Check out some of these early morning temperatures across the great state of Alabama…

Black Creek (just northeast of Gadsden) 35
Haleyville 36
Fort Payne 36
Russellville 37
Valley Head 37
Cullman 38
Fayette 38

Most places are in the 40s, however, but still very chilly for late April. Today will feature sunshine in full supply, low humidity, and a high in the upper 60s.

Tomorrow morning will be another cold one; pretty much like this morning. Colder pockets go into the 30s… most communities will see a low down in the low 40s. The sky will remain sunny tomorrow with a high in the mid to upper 70s.

WEEKEND SHOWERS: Moist air surges back into Alabama late tomorrow night, and we will deal with rain at times over the weekend. Not enough skill to give you specific start/stop times for the rain this weekend, but understand the rain could basically come at any hour of the day or night Saturday and Sunday. Not a wash-out, but just be prepared for occasional showers. A few thunderstorms could be involved with a heavy downpour, although we don’t expect any issues with severe weather. The sky over the weekend will be mostly cloudy, and the high both days should be in the mid 70s.

NEXT WEEK: The GFS is trending drier on Monday and Tuesday, and if the 12Z model runs confirm this we will scale back the chance of showers early in the week. Temperatures will rise to near 80 degrees on both days if the drier solution is correct. Then, showers and storms will increase Wednesday/Thursday as another cold front approaches. Too early to determine if severe weather will be an issue, but for now it looks only like an outside chance.

Cooler and drier air moves back into the state late in the week, and for now the following weekend (May 4-5) looks great with sunny pleasant days and clear chilly nights. See the Weather Xtreme video for the graphics, maps, and details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
