| May 4, 2013 @ 7:37 am

Many, many outdoor events are scheduled for today. The good news is that dry slot is moving steadily into Alabama, and the sky has cleared over the western counties already…

The dry slot will continue to move east, and the rain should end around the Talladega Superspeedway by mid to late morning, it still looks like the afternoon will be mostly dry for the running of the Aaron’s 312 this afternoon. Even a decent chance the sun breaks out, but the clearing will be a slow go.

COLD MAY DAY: But, despite the clearing, today will be cold for May with a high in the mid 50s. This will set a new record low maximum temperature for May 4. And, tomorrow morning temperatures will drop into the 38-42 degree range.

Here is a peek at early morning temperatures. Still a big contrast, with cold air over West Alabama, and warmer air to the east. Haleyville has dropped into the upper 30s.

TALLADEGA TOMORROW: The cold core upper low will move right over Alabama, and occasional showers are likely tomorrow. And, due to the very cold air aloft some hail is likely with the heavier showers. Delays are likely for the Aaron’s 499 tomorrow afternoon, and it will be tricky getting the race in, but is it possible.
