More Late Night Reports

A mix of precipitation continues across North and Central Alabama tonight. Across the Tennessee Valley, it is mostly snow.

Grant is in Marshall County. It is north of Guntersville. Observer there reports that it is snowing heavily, with one half inch on the ground.

Our old buddy Dan Satterfield in Huntsville reports roads snow covered on Monte Sano with occasional heavy snow.

Lauderdale County Sherrif reports bridge on US 72 icing between Florence and Killen.

Across Northwest Alabama, including Marion, Winston, Walker, Lamar and Fayette Counties, there is a mix of sleet and freezing rain occurring.

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is across Cullman County.

Over eastern Alabama, temperatures are cold and sleet changing over to rain will become freezing rain during the overnight before it changes ot rain during the early morning.

1 a.m. reports:
Muscle Shoals…29/Light Snow
Huntsville…30/Light Snow
Decatur…30/Light Snow
Tuscaloosa…36/Light Rain
Birmingham…34/Rain
Calera…35/Cloudy
Gadsden…34/Cloudy
Annitson…35/Cloudy

In a strip of counties including Lamar, Fayette, Jefferson, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties, the precipitation may falls as freezing rain in some locations as the mercury edges close to freezing. Bu hopefully, readings will edge back upwards a bit overnight…as they have in Fayette…rising every so slightly to 33.6.

These counties, and all the ones to the north of them in Alabama are under a Winter Weather Advisory through 6 or 9 a.m.

Please check road and weather conditions before setting out across North or Central Alabama late tonight or in the morning.

South of these areas, rain will be the story overnight with a little sleet mized in from time to time.
