An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Be sure and check out Dr. Coleman’s “radar bug” post below… very interesting!

NOTE: After a second look, I figured out that object in the still image from our Gulf Shores SKYCAM in the Weather Xtreme video is a seagull! No ship or kite.

The forecast mid-week cool down still looks good; the GFS MOS shows a high of 90 tomorrow, but only 84 Wednesday with a fresh north breeze and low humidity. That same model is spitting out 58 for Birmingham early Thursday morning; that sure sounds refreshing. Cooler spots should easily reach the mid 50s.

Despite a cold front dropping southward across Alabama tomorrow, it looks like moisture will be very limited, and there is only a small risk of a shower or storm for any one location. Wednesday and Thursday will be dry with those comfortable temperatures.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: The GFS continues the idea of a short wave impacting Alabama at the end of the week with a chance of showers and storms by Friday afternoon and Friday night. Showers are also possible on Saturday, but they should thin out on Sunday as a surface low associated with the wave moves east of Alabama.

VOODOO LAND: Still looks like fairly routine June weather for the last 8 days of the month, with temperatures near average values and a few scattered afternoon showers and storms mixed in just about every day. The tropics continue to show no sign of serious nervousness.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. We will record a new show tonight, and we will have a guest with us from the NWS office in Des Moines, Iowa… should be a very interesting show. It should be available by 10:00 or so.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow!
