An Extraordinary Recognition

Fodor’s produces one of the most respected curated travel guides in the world. I have dozens of them from over the years on my bookshelves and more recently on my tablets.

I was thrilled to see that they tapped Birmingham as one of 14 Best Places to Go This Fall. The Magic City is one of five cities in the U.S. to make the list.

Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau President Jim Smither called it “an extraordinary recognition”.

The 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights milestones from 1963 led to the recognition, which mentions special commemoration events as well as the new Westin Hotel and the Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve.

Hearing my hometown mentioned in the same breath with Hong Kong, Chicago, Paris, Munich, Montreal and Miami is a proud moment.
