Mostly Clear for Tonight

| January 25, 2014 @ 4:58 pm

The thick, low-levels clouds that kept many locations across Central Alabama from seeing a lot of the sun this morning have moved out of the area. In their wake, a mostly sunny sky appeared over Central Alabama this afternoon. There is a mix of sun and clouds and we should see most of the clouds dissipate throughout the overnight hours.

We all had a chance to warm-up and thaw out this afternoon. Upper 40s and lower 50s were the dominate temperatures values for Central Alabama. Areas across the Tennessee Valley remained in the lower 40s this afternoon, while locations across southern portions of the state were closer to 60.

As we head into the overnight hours, the clear conditions will once again allow our temperatures to sink below freezing. By tomorrow morning, the lows will be very similar to what we had this morning across the area. Looking at the graphic below, which are the forecast temps for 6AM tomorrow from the rapid refresh model, we can expect widespread 20s in the morning. Of course as we have seen all winter, there will be a range in temperatures. Those colder spots could see upper teens overnight, but for the most part, most areas will stay in the 20s.

For our Sunday, we should see mostly sunny skies and southwesterly flow, which should allow our temps to warm into the mid 50s. Most locations across Central Alabama should have terrific weather tomorrow afternoon. I suggest that if you can get out and enjoy the weather tomorrow you should. Another Arctic front arrives Monday and we will see another frigid week of weather.
