| January 28, 2014 @ 5:15 am

WeatherBrains Episode 418 is now online (January 27, 2014). If you are crazy about weather, this is THE netcast audio program for you!

Joe Samalin lives, and was born and raised, in New York City and currently works with the Mental Health Association of NYC as the national Outreach and Training Manager for the Disaster Distress Helpline. The Disaster Distress Helpline is the only national helpline dedicated to providing support to anyone in the US affected by any kind of disaster. Joe has been conducting outreach and training nationally and internationally for over 15 years, primarily on issues of gender-based violence prevention. From 2009 – 2012, Joe was the Coordinator of Training & Technical Assistance for Men Can Stop Rape and before that he was the trainer with the Anti-Stalking Program at Safe Horizon – a victim services agency in NYC. He has been a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and volunteered in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attack helping coordinate a program performing medical checks on 1st responders working at the Ground Zero site. In addition, Joe lived in Japan for over four years and is fluent in the language. He enjoys reading, video games, and playing ultimate frisbee when it is not too windy, and he gives a big thanks to meteorologists everywhere for the work they do!

Matt Meister from KRDO-TV from Colorado Springs, CO, also joins us as one of the panelists.

Also joining us are students from SECAPS, the Southeastern Coastal & Atmospheric Processes Symposium, to bring us up-to-date on the planning for the 2014 conference. Robin King and Lily Dickson join us to talk about the 11th SeCAPS Symposium.
