Heavy Rain Approaching I-65

Moderate to heavy rain has made it into Alabama this evening. All our counties in West-Central Alabama are seeing the rain currently, and it continues to spread east. It is raining in Tuscaloosa, Jasper, Demopolis, Sulligent and Hamilton. It will begin to impact the Interstate 65 corridor within the hour.

There have been a few severe thunderstorm warnings to our west and south this evening, but we are not expecting severe storms in Central Alabama tonight. However, there could be some strong storms with gusty winds. Heavy rain appears to be the main issue with this storm system. There are numerous flash flood warnings across northern and southern Mississippi. We are going to have to watch this activity closely the next few hours.

For the rest of tonight, expect a heavy soaking rain for several hours. The good news is that the back edge of the rain has passed the Intestate 55 corridor in Central Mississippi. The rain should clear most of the area by tomorrow morning, and we should see slow clearing tomorrow as well as turn cooler.
