Today is running a little chillier than we first thought.

The cold front that moved through last evening put a lot distance in between it and us overnight, which has plunged us even deeper in the colder airmass it is dragging in its wake.

Low clouds broke up pretty quickly and we should see only high clouds streaming past at times.  Otherwise, it will be totally sunny.

Highs will range from 42F around Gadsden to the middle 40s around Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.   Under clear skies tonight, readings will fall into the upper 20s northeast of a line from Cullman to Pell City to Lafayette.  Readings near or just above freezing will be common to the southwest, in places like Jasper, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Alex City.

HOUR-BY-HOUR FOR THE MARATHONERS: We salute you, you Masters of the 26.2 miles, for your dogged determination and tireless preparations. The long runs on cold, wet mornings, or blazing summer days. The time away from family. Your goal is in sight. Make it happen!

Here is your hour by hour Mercedes Marathon forecast for downtown Birmingham for tomorrow:

6am 33F
7am 35F
8am 40F
9am 46F
10am 51F
11am 55F
12n 58F
1p 59F

Skies will be clear to start the race, with a few clouds showing up for the last stragglers, although at worst it will be mostly sunny.

Indeed, Sunday is going to be a nice day, with a good supply of sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the 60s over much of the area. Northeastern sections may lag in the middle and upper 50s. Lots of 40s on the board Sunday night, except again over northeastern sections where 30s will prevail.

The coming week will feature a Spring Preview, but with a few showers thrown in as well as a chance for strong storms late in the week. But 70s for daytime highs will headline upcoming forecasts.

Tweaking the 7 day and will post it by 1 p.m. Enjoy your Saturday!
