TRENDING WARMER: We are projecting a high in the mid 60s across North/Central Alabama today… still below the average high of 67, but close. Clouds persist over East Alabama at daybreak, but for most communities we project a mix of sun and clouds today.

A surface front will pass through, but the moisture is razor thin, and we do not expect any rain with this feature.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: These two days will feature sunshine in full supply; the high tomorrow will be in the mid 60s, follow by low 70s Friday. Nights will stay cool with early morning lows around 40 degrees.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Models continue to trend drier for Saturday, and it sure looks like much of the day will be dry. There will be cloudy periods, and just a slight risk of a shower… Saturday’s high will be in the low to mid 70s.

Sunday will be cloudy and cooler with some risk of light rain; a surface front will ease down into Central Alabama, and the northern counties of the state won’t get out of the 50s. The rain Sunday won’t be especially widespread or heavy, and there is no risk of severe weather. South Alabama will stay mild with a high in the low 70s Sunday afternoon south of the front.

NEXT WEEK: The best chance of rain in Alabama Monday will come over the southern half of the state. Around here the sky will be generally cloudy with a high in the 50s. Then, the rest of the week looks cool and dry with temperatures below average; highs in the low to mid 60s, with lows in the 30s and low 30s. We might make a run at a late season freeze early Wednesday morning (yes, it is still too early to plant).

GULF COAST WEATHER: Sunny days, fair nights through Saturday from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Just a few widely scattered showers Sunday, then a better chance of rain at times Monday. Then, the rest of next week is looking dry.

The sea water temperature this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is a cool 59 degrees, so highs on the immediate coast will be only in the low 60s… expect low to mid 70s inland later this week and over the weekend.
