Today is the vernal equinox, which means we have equal daylight and darkness, twelve hours of each, as the sun is directly over the equator. It is also the official first day of spring. Spring arrived here in Alabama at 11:57 AM CDT. Hooray!!!

I, like many people out there are so excited to see the winter of 2014 come to an end. It certainly has been cold, snowy, and icy, and one of the worst winters we have experienced in quite some time across the eastern half of the U.S. Though we will still have several cool snaps ahead, the worst of the winter is behind us.

Since spring does start today, the weather will cooperate the next few days. It will certainly feel like spring, before we cool back off over the weekend and into next week.
