Widespread Flooding Occurring

We are still under the threat of severe weather across Central Alabama this morning. However, as the rain continues to fall across the area, we are beginning to see a lot of issues with flooding. Many areas have received 3-4 inches of rain, with radar estimates greater than 5 inches, and it continues to fall. Here are just a few of the numerous reports coming in this morning.

IN TARRANT SPRINGDALE RD DOWN TO ONE LANE DUE TO WATER RISING ABOVE BANK FULL AT VILLAGE CREEK. SEVERAL ROADS CLOSED IN TARRANT DUE TO VILLAGE CREEK RISING ABOVE BANK FULL, INCLUDING ALABAMA ST, MISSISSIPPI ST

IN HOMEWOOD EVACUATIONS AND WATER RESCUES ONGOING AT LAKESHORE GARDEN APTS. WATER GETTING INTO GROUND FLOOR APTS.

Data showing Village Creek is now 2 feet above flood stage.

Morgan Road at exit 6 off I 459 flooded. Police have road blocked off.

Major flooding in parts of Jefferson and Shelby Counties. Many roads are not passable.

Glade rd in Anniston/Saks area is underwater, creek has overflowed.

Hoover and Pelham, AL reporting major flooding issues this morning including mudslides and evacuations.

Homewood PD dispatch is saying they have a rock slide on hwy 31 mainly in VH!

MOBILE HOME PARK ON HWY 119 SURROUNDED BY RISING WATER. RESIDENTS ARE BEING EVACUATED.

FLOODING AT TALLAPOOSA ST AT I-20/59, NEAR VILLAGE CREEK.

FIVE MILE RD AT HUFFMAN RD IS BARRICADED. AVE V IN SOUTHPARK IS BARRICADED.

This flooding is occurring throughout Central Alabama. Numerous roads are closed or underwater.

The only good news is that the back edge of the rain is now approaching the Birmingham Metro, so we should begin to see slow improvements.
