Chilly Again Tonight

| April 16, 2014 @ 2:00 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today; I am headed to Tuscaloosa where we will be programming NOAA Weather Radio receivers from 3:30 until 6:30 at Academy Sports on Skyland Bvld. If you need help, come see us**

COLD AGAIN TONIGHT: Cold, but not as cold as last night. Most locations will see a low near 40 degrees early tomorrow morning, but the colder pockets across Northeast Alabama will see mid 30s with a touch of frost possible.

Tomorrow will be warmer… the sky will be partly to mostly sunny with a high in the upper 60s.

SOME RAIN ON FRIDAY: Rain will likely move into Alabama early Friday morning… this is the high resolution NAM valid at 7a CT Friday…

I should note other models are not as aggressive with rain as the upward velocities with the wave are not especially robust, and moisture will be pretty limited. Still, we will mention a few periods of rain Friday with a cloudy sky and a high around 70 degrees. The rain will exit the state by mid to late afternoon.

EASTER WEEKEND: Still looks warm and dry with ample sunshine Saturday and Sunday… the high Saturday will be in the upper 70s, and low 80s are very possible Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: The new 12Z run of the GFS hints a surface front will bring a chance of showers to Alabama Monday night into Tuesday. Nothing really heavy, and no severe weather threat. Then, an upper ridge could bring the warmest weather so far this year to the state by Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid 80s.

AT THE BEACH: Partly sunny tomorrow along the coast from Panama City to Gulf Shores with a high in the mid to upper 60s… just a slight risk of a shower tomorrow afternoon; showers become more likely tomorrow night and Friday. Then, the weekend looks great with mostly sunny days Saturday and Sunday. Highs over the weekend on the immediate coast will be around 70 degrees, with upper 70s inland. Dry weather continues Monday before showers return Tuesday. Sea water temperatures are mostly in the mid 60s.
