We are very concerned about the storms west and southwest of Jackson MS. These storms are about 3-4 hours away from Tuscaloosa and 4-5 hours away from Birmingham. This means areas west of Tuscaloosa around 8 p.m. or a little earlier, Tuscaloosa between 8:30 and 9 and Birmingham less than an hour later around 9:30-10 p.m.

Heads Up: The situation may actually worsen tonight as wind shear values increase. As we mentioned in the afternoon forecast package, low level wind shear should actually increase through the evening hours.

Right now, a dangerous storm is about to enter northern Lamar and Marion Counties in Northwest Alabama. it is approaching the town of Detroit. A tornado warning is in effect. The tornado will move north of Guin, passing near Hamilton in about 15 minutes around 5:30 p.m.

It is hailing in Hamilton right now.
