Dry May Days

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

QUIET DAY IN THE OFFICE: Nice and calm today; we have a partly sunny sky with temperatures generally in the 60s, well below the average high of 78. Tonight will be fair and cool, and we fall back into the 40s early tomorrow.

An upper trough axis will pass overhead tomorrow, but the air is very dry and we won’t have anything other than scattered clouds. Any rain should be confined to the far southeast corner of our state around Dothan. Tomorrow’s high will be in the low 70s.

WARMING UP THIS WEEKEND: Nothing but a sunny sky Saturday and Sunday; we reach the upper 70s Saturday, followed by low to mid 80s Sunday. Delightful weather for race weekend at Talladega.

The warm, dry weather continues through much of next week. Toward the end of the week, a large scale upper trough will be moving out of the western U.S., and that will most likely bring our next round of showers and storms in about 9 to 10 days. Remains to be seen if it will pose a severe weather threat; see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Showers are possible tomorrow across the Florida Panhandle, then look for sunny days and fair nights this weekend, and through much of next week from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the low 70s; look for 80s just a few miles inland late this weekend and into next week. Sea water temperatures are generally in the low to mid 70s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show tonight at 8:30p CT… you can watch it on “James Spann 24/7” on cable systems around the state, or on the web here.
