Dry, Warmer Weekend

| May 2, 2014 @ 3:29 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

DRY DAYS: Nothing on radar across Alabama this afternoon, but we do have scattered clouds around thanks to an upper trough passing overhead.

Tonight will be fair and cool; most communities will wind up in the mid to upper 40s early tomorrow.

WARMING TREND: The weekend will feature a sunny sky both days; we reach the upper 70s tomorrow, and mid 80s Sunday.

And, at this point, it looks like Alabama will stay rain-free all next week with sunny warm days and fair nights. Highs mostly in the mid 80s, with early morning lows around 60 degrees. A nice stretch of calm weather.

TORNADO COUNT: Looks like the Birmingham NWS office has identified 14 tornadoes from Monday and Monday night… see the storm survey results here. While there were no “strong/violent” tornadoes, there was some EF-3 damage in a couple of spots.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes on the new episode we recorded last night with Rick Knabb, director of the National Hurricane Center.

I enjoyed seeing the third graders today at Alexandria Elementary School… be looking for them on the Pepsi KIDCAM today at 5:00 on ABC 33/40 News! My next Weather Xtreme video will be posted bright and early Monday morning by 7:00… Brian Peters will have the video updates tomorrow and Sunday. Enjoy the weekend!
