RADAR CHECK: Nothing showing up across the great state of Alabama this afternoon, but a band of showers and storms are moving through parts of Louisiana and Arkansas. Temperatures around here are mostly in the mid 80s.

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of the Upper Midwest through 9:00p CT…. including parts of Iowa and Minnesota.

Clouds will increase across Alabama tonight as the rain approaches from the west.

TOMORROW: Showers and thunderstorms are likely tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night; thankfully the main dynamics will weaken and lift into Canada, but we still expect rain amounts around one inch, and some thunder is likely. Very doubtful we get out of the 70s because of the clouds and rain.

SATURDAY: We will maintain the chance of a few lingering showers and thunderstorms, especially during the morning hours. Showers thin out Saturday afternoon, and the sun could break out at times. Saturday’s high will be in the low 80s.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny and warm; a high in the mid 80s, and only a slight risk of a shower during the day as the upper ridge begins to rebuild and the air becomes more stable.

NEXT WEEK: The weather looks mostly dry and warm Monday, but a band of showers and thunderstorms will move through late Tuesday and Tuesday night ahead of a cold front. Then, cooler and drier settles into the state Wednesday through Friday. We will have a hard time getting out of the 60s Wednesday, and temperatures should drop into the chilly 40s early Thursday morning. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

AT THE BEACH: Rain and storms are likely along the coast late tomorrow and tomorrow night. Then, for the weekend, occasional showers are likely from Panama City west to Gulf Shores, with potential for a few heavy downpours along the way. A flash flood watch is in effect for Pensacola and Gulf Shores tomorrow through Sunday. There will be some decent intervals of sun on the coast Sunday, however. Highs will be mostly in the 70s along the coast, with 80s inland. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab this afternoon is 76 degrees.
