Late Morning Radar Check

| May 14, 2014 @ 11:21 am

Showers and storms continue to develop across the state this morning and are lifting off to the north rather rapidly.Currently, no activity across the state is severe, but there are some heavy downpours embedded within this area of convection that is moving north. There are a few flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder as well.

As we head into the afternoon, showers and storms will continue to increase in coverage. With the front approaching, uplift will be enhanced and we will likely see a few strong and severe storms develop. The main concerns with storms today will be damaging wind gusts and hail. The SPC is currently working on a new severe thunderstorm watch that will include portions of Alabama and it should be issued by lunch-time.
