REFRESHING CHANGE: A nice touch of fall is in the air over the northern third of Alabama this morning… some temperatures at daybreak include…

Meridianville (near Huntsville in Madison County) 57
Black Creek (just northeast of Gadsden) 59
Fort Payne 59
Valley Head 59
Crossville 59
Scottsboro 59

Today will be sunny with low humidity with a high in the mid to upper 80s.

REST OF THE WEEK AND THE WEEKEND: The dry air stays in place through Saturday, so a simple forecast continues with mostly sunny days and fair pleasant nights. We project a low down in the low 60s early tomorrow, with 50s again for the cooler pockets. Afternoon highs will be in the 87-91 degree range. Moist air begins to return Sunday, and we will introduce the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.

NEXT WEEK: Rather unsettled weather is likely for the first half of the week, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms Monday through Wednesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for the latest maps, graphics, and more details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Expect mostly sunny days and fair nights on the coast from Panama City to Gulf Shores through Saturday with only isolated thunderstorms. Scattered storms will be a little more likely Sunday and early next week, but even then you will still see a decent amount of sun. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and the sea water temperature early this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 85 degrees.

TROPICS: All remains quiet and tropical storm formation is not expected across the Atlantic basin through the end of the week.
