Temperatures

Our weather won’t change much today with a very dry airmass in place; a sunny sky, low humidity, and a high in the mid to upper 80s.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Dry weather continues with a good supply of sunshine tomorrow and Saturday; heat levels creep up slowly with a high around 90 tomorrow, followed by low 90s Saturday. Moisture begins to return Sunday, and an afternoon shower or storm could pop up in a few places, but we note the 00Z GFS came in pretty dry for Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Showers and storms become more numerous Monday with an increase in moisture and a weak front approaching from the north. Showers and storms begin to thin out a bit Tuesday, and then our weather trends dry Wednesday through Friday. The drying trend it not due to cooler and drier air moving in from the north, but due to an upper high expected to build across the region, which means rising heat levels. We should be up in the mid 90s over the latter half of next week with very few cooling showers around. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: Mostly sunny days, fair nights through Sunday from Panama City to Gulf Shores with only a slight risk of a shower. A few scattered showers and storms are possible early next week, but we still expect about 6 to 8 hours of sunshine each day. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and the sea water temperature early this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 82 degrees.

TROPICS: All is quiet across the Atlantic basin, and tropical storm formation is not expected through the weekend.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
