These will fade quickly after the sun set this evening.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Tomorrow will be a mostly sunny day to kick off the weekend with a high in the mid 80s for most communities. The day Sunday will be dry and very warm with a high in the upper 80s; some West Alabama towns could touch 90 degrees Sunday afternoon. Then, a cold front will bring the risk of a few scattered showers Sunday night. Moisture will be limited, and the showers will diminish as they move south. Rain amounts will be light and spotty, and showers should be gone by daybreak Monday.

NEXT WEEK: A nice surge of dry, continental air will move into the state Monday, setting up a generally rain-free week with seasonal temperatures. Highs will be mostly in the low 80s, lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For the high school football games tonight across Alabama, most stadiums will be dry, but a shower is possible in scattered spots during the first half of the games. Temperatures will fall through the 70s.

Alabama will host Florida at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa tomorrow afternoon (2:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be mostly sunny with a kickoff temperature near 87 degrees, falling into the upper 70s by the final whistle. It will feel pretty hot if you are sitting in the sun.

TROPICS: Edouard has become post-tropical in the middle of the Atlantic this afternoon far from land, and the rest of the Atlantic is pretty quiet.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Mostly sunny days and fair nights from Panama City west to Gulf Shores through the weekend and most of the week with only isolated showers. Highs in the mid 80s, sea water temperatures also in the mid 80s. A nice, calm pattern.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
