Drought Conditions Persist

| October 11, 2014 @ 11:28 am

A quick look at the latest drought monitor issued earlier this week, continues to show just how dry it has been across the state lately. Over 75% of the state remains abnormally dry, with moderate drought conditions affecting much of the central part of the state, as well as southeastern portions of the state. There is even an area of severe drought conditions affecting Clay and Tallapoosa counties.

Rains the last couple of days, as well as the rain forecast the impact the state the next several days, will only help conditions. October is statistically the driest month of the year for Alabama, so any rain we can get this time of year, is great news. Hopefully, when the next drought monitor is issued Thursday, we will see improving conditions across the state.
