Early Afternoon Update

| October 11, 2014 @ 12:32 pm

A mix of sun and clouds this afternoon, and it remains very warm and muggy across the state. It is October, but the weather feels more like August. We should see highs in the 80s again today, with even a few locations to the south seeing 90s.

As we look at the radar, we are seeing a few showers and some storms developing across central portions of the state. Storms have developed along the Interstate 20 corridor on the eastern side of the state. There are some storms developing down towards the Interstate 85 corridor as well.

As we head through the afternoon, we can expect to see more of the same, as showers and storms will be developing. No organized severe weather is expected today in the state, but there could be an isolated severe storm or two later this afternoon. As we have seen the past few days, storms could certainly pack a punch as they will be producing tremendous amounts of lightning, heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and some hail. Not everyone will see the rain today, and the better chance for rain remains north of the I-20 corridor.
