MORNING CHILL: We are starting the day down in the 40s across the great state of Alabama; our Skywatcher at Black Creek, just northeast of Gadsden, is reporting 42 degrees at daybreak… most communities are in the mid to upper 40s with a clear sky.

The day ahead will be sunny with a big warm-up… the high will be in the 77 to 80 degree range.

THE WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK: A fresh supply of cooler air will arrive tomorrow; the day will be sunny and breezy at times with a high in the low 70s. Sunday morning will be pretty chilly with mid 40s like; some of the colder pockets over Northeast Alabama will dip into the upper 30s. The day Sunday will feature sunshine in full supply with a high close to 70 degrees.

The air stays dry next week, meaning more great fall weather with sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. It would very well be early November before our next really significant rain event in Alabama.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Doesn’t get any better for the high school games tonight. A clear sky with temperatures will fall through the 60s, reaching the 50s in some stadiums by the fourth quarter.

Tomorrow, Alabama hosts Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa (2:30p CT kickoff). The sky will be sunny; 74 degrees at kickoff, upper 60s by the fourth quarter. No risk of rain.

The UAB Blazers are on the road; they play at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro tomorrow (2:30p CT kickoff). Again, a perfect day for football with a sunny sky. Temperatures will fall from near 69 at kickoff, to near 62 by the final whistle.

RACE WEEKEND: Sunny pleasant days, fair cool nights at the Talledega Superspeedway through the weekend. Afternoon highs tomorrow and Sunday will be in the low to mid 70s. Don’t think you could ask for better weather for NASCAR fans.

TROPICS: Gonzalo is a major hurricane with sustained winds of 130 mph, it will pass very close to Bermuda late today. Then, it recurves into the North Atlantic, with no impact on the U.S. mainland.

In the Pacific… Tropical Storm Ana should become a minimal hurricane today; it is expected to pass south and west of the Hawaiian Islands over the weekend.

GULF COAST WEATHER: An easy forecast; sunny pleasant days, fair cool nights through next week. Highs in the 75-80 degree range, lows mostly in the 60s from Panama City over to Gulf Shores.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
