**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

TONS O’ SUN: What a delightful afternoon across the great state of Alabama. A sunny sky, low humidity, and temperatures in the 78-82 degree range.

Over the weekend, a new surge of cool air drops in here, giving us a gentle cooling trend and keeping our weather rain-free. We project a high in the low 70s tomorrow, and close to 70 Sunday afternoon with sunshine in full supply both days. The coolest morning will come early Sunday when temperatures drop into the mid 40s; some of the colder valleys could reach the upper 30s.

No real change in our weather next week as moisture is cut off from the region, yet another surge of cooler, drier continental air arrives Wednesday. As we discussed this morning, our next good rain event could very well come in early November.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Doesn’t get any better for the high school games tonight. A clear sky with temperatures will fall through the 60s, reaching the 50s in some stadiums by the fourth quarter.

Tomorrow, Alabama hosts Texas A&M at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa (2:30p CT kickoff). The sky will be sunny; 74 degrees at kickoff, upper 60s by the fourth quarter. No risk of rain.

The UAB Blazers are on the road; they play at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro tomorrow (2:30p CT kickoff). Again, a perfect day for football with a sunny sky. Temperatures will fall from near 69 at kickoff, to near 62 by the final whistle.

RACE WEEKEND: Sunny pleasant days, fair cool nights at the Talledega Superspeedway through the weekend. Afternoon highs tomorrow and Sunday will be in the low to mid 70s. Don’t think you could ask for better weather for NASCAR fans.

TROPICS: Hurricane Gonzalo is packing sustained winds of 125 mph (category three) this afternoon, and the eye is nearing the small island of Bermuda…

And, over in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Ana is packing sustained winds of 70 mph, and could become a minimal hurricane tonight. It will pass west and south of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend.

GULF COAST WEATHER: No rain for the next seven days from Panama City over to Gulf Shores with sunny days and clear nights. Highs will be mostly in the 75 to 80 degree range, with lows generally in the 60s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
