Dry October Days

| October 20, 2014 @ 3:28 pm

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

QUIET FALL WEATHER PATTERN: Nothing on the radar as you might expect on this beautiful fall day. Lots of sun; temperatures are generally in the low 70s at mid-afternoon.

REST OF THE WEEK: Not much change as the dry pattern continues. A fresh surge of cooler and dry air arrives Wednesday; we project sunny pleasant days and fair cool nights through Friday with just a few passing high cirrus clouds from time to time.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Dry air stays in place, and the weather looks fantastic. Mostly sunny days, fair nights. Highs in the 70-75 degree range; lows 45 to 50 degrees. You could not ask for better weather for the Magic City Classic or anything else you want to do outside Saturday and Sunday.

And, in the longer range, still no evidence of any significant chance of rain here through the end of October. Our next shower/thunderstorm event comes sometime in November.

TROPICS: A disturbance over the Bay of Campeche has a chance of getting better organized in coming days; seems like this will move eastward over the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Caribbean late this week, followed by a northward turn toward Cuba and the southern tip of Florida. This should not impact Alabama in any way; see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps and graphics.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Sunny days, clear nights thorough the weekend from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Highs 77-81; lows mostly in the 60s. Sea water temperatures are generally in the low 70s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show tonight live from the National Weather Association annual meeting in Salt Lake City, UT. We begin earlier than usual; 6:45p CT. Watch it on “James Spann 24/7” on cable systems around the state, or on the web here.
