TONS O’ SUN: Another delightful October day across Alabama, with a sunny sky and temperatures generally in the mid 70s, right at seasonal levels. No rain on radar.

A new surge of cooler air drops into the state tonight, and our high tomorrow will drop into the 67 to 70 degree range. By daybreak Thursday we expect a low down in the low 40s, with upper 30s likely for colder pockets across North Alabama. No rain for the rest of the week with sunny days and clear nights.

OUR WEEKEND: No real change. Sunny pleasant days, clear cool nights. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Clear and cool conditions for high school games Friday night; temperatures will fall from the upper 60s at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter.

Saturday is a big football day in Birmingham with the Magic City Classic at Legion Field, featuring Alabama State and Alabama A&M. The sky will be sun filled (2:30p CT kickoff); 76 degrees at kickoff, with mid 60s by the final whistle. There is no risk of rain.

Auburn will host South Carolina Saturday evening at Jordan-Hare Stadium (6:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear, with temperatures falling from the upper 60s at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter.

Alabama is on the road; they take on the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday evening in Knoxville (6:30p CT kickoff). The sky will be clear with a kickoff temperature near 62 degrees, falling into the 50s by the second half.

UAB plays on the road at Arkansas in Fayetteville Saturday (11:00a CT kickoff)… expect a sunny sky with a kickoff temperature near 77 degrees, rising into the low 80s by halftime. No risk of rain.

NEXT WEEK: A weak cold front will pass through Wednesday, but for now it looks like moisture will be too limited for any really significant chance of rain. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: A disturbance over the Bay of Campeche will move eastward over the Yucatan peninsula in coming days, emerging into the Caribbean later his week. If it survives, it will move northward, and could impact the southern tip of Florida in about a week with potential for heavy rain. No issues for Alabama.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.

I enjoyed being in Hackleburg this morning; their rebuilding process is coming along very nicely after the horrible EF-5 tornado there April 27, 2011. Here is a look at the new Hackleburg High School under construction…
