DRY DAYS: Today will be the ninth consecutive day with no rain across the great state of Alabama, and the dry spell continues into the weekend with mostly sunny days and fair nights. We project a high in the low 70s today, mid to upper 70s tomorrow, and low 80s Sunday.

The average high for Birmingham today is 72; the average low is 48. Temperatures over the past few days have been below average, and over the weekend they will be above average.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Clear and cool conditions for high school games tonight; temperatures will fall from the upper 60s at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter.

Tomorrow is a big football day in Birmingham with the Magic City Classic at Legion Field, featuring Alabama State and Alabama A&M. The sky will be sun filled (2:30p CT kickoff); 75 degrees at kickoff, with mid 60s by the final whistle. There is no risk of rain.

Auburn will host South Carolina tomorrow evening at Jordan-Hare Stadium (6:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear, with temperatures falling from around 70 degrees at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter.

Alabama is on the road; they take on the Tennessee Volunteers tomorrow evening in Knoxville (6:30p CT kickoff). The sky will be clear with a kickoff temperature near 65 degrees, falling into the 50s by the second half.

UAB plays on the road at Arkansas in Fayetteville tomorrow (11:00a CT kickoff)… expect a sunny sky with a kickoff temperature near 77 degrees, rising into the low 80s by halftime. No risk of rain.

NEXT WEEK: We stay dry with warm afternoons (highs around 80) Monday and Tuesday. We will mention a small risk of a shower Wednesday and Thursday with a surface front just to the north, but the front has little upper support, and moisture will be very limited, so many places won’t see any rain. Slightly cooler air filters into the state at the end of the week, but the idea of a deep surge of colder air for now is off the table. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and complete details.
