Sunny But Cold Thanksgiving Day

| November 27, 2014 @ 6:23 am

**I will produce a Weather Xtreme video later today; we are on a holiday schedule so just one video per day through the weekend**

HAPPY THANKSGIVING: We begin the day with temperatures mostly in the 30s, and despite a sunny sky today we don’t expect to get out of the 40s with a chilly north breeze. A freeze is likely tonight; the low early tomorrow will be in the 25 to 29 degree range for most North/Central Alabama communities.

Tomorrow will be cool and dry with ample sunshine and a high in the low 50s; keep in mind we should be in the low 60s in late November based on long term averages.

WARMER WEEKEND: A nice warm-up begins this weekend; we project a high in the low 60s Saturday, and then mid to upper 60s Sunday. A few scattered clouds show up Sunday, but the weather stays dry.

IRON BOWL: Doesn’t get much better. For the 6:45p CT kickoff in Tuscaloosa Saturday, we project a fair sky with temperatures in the upper 50s, falling slowly into the low 50s by the final whistle.

NEXT WEEK: Mild weather continues; the high will be in the 65-70 degree range for the first half of the week with a mix of sun and clouds each day. We might consider a small risk of a shower Monday for areas north of Birmingham, but most communities stay dry. Earlier global model runs suggested a rain event at the end of the week, but the GFS has trended drier with an upper ridge holding in place across the Deep South.

No sign of any harshly cold air around here for the next 15 days.
