An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS AFTERNOON: More clouds than sun across Alabama with temperatures mostly in the upper 60s around here; Montgomery remains one of the warmest spots in the state with 76 degrees at mid-afternoon. Nothing on radar.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: We are forecasting a high in the low 70s tomorrow, about 10-15 degrees above average, and not too far away from the record high of 78 (set in 1998) for December 4. We expect some sun through scattered clouds. Then, on Friday, clouds thicken ahead of a short wave, and we will mention the risk of widely scattered showers during the day, especially over West Alabama. Showers will become more likely over the northwest part of the state Friday night.

OUR WEEKEND: Saturday will offer the best chance of rain, but no severe weather, no thunder, no “all day rain”, and nothing especially heavy. In fact the latest GFS run shows just some light rain at times, with amounts well under 1/2 inch. The high Saturday will be in the mid to upper 60s with a cloudy sky. Then, the wave will be east of Alabama Sunday, and the sky should become partly to mostly sunny with a high between 60 and 65 degrees.

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Nice and dry for the Alabama/Missouri game inside the Georgia Dome Saturday in Atlanta, but some light rain is likely outside at times with a cloudy sky… the high will be in the low 60s.

NEXT WEEK: The weather trends cooler, and the week for now looks rain-free with highs in the 50s, and lows in the 30s. Right at seasonal averages for mid-December. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

No sign of any severe weather problems for Alabama through mid-December.
