Occasional Showers Through Tomorrow Morning

| December 5, 2014 @ 3:33 pm

**No Weather Xtreme video this afternoon; I am the Grand Marshall in the annual Cullman Christmas parade tonight… I will be back for ABC 33/40 News tonight at 10:00**

RADAR CHECK: A little light rain is showing up in spots over West Alabama this afternoon; heavier showers are over the northwest corner of the state…

WET START TO THE WEEKEND: We are still forecasting periods of rain tonight and tomorrow across North/Central Alabama… for places like Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, and Gadsden, the most significant rain will come from about 9:00 tonight through 12:00 noon tomorrow. It won’t rain for that entire nine hour time frame, but occasional showers are likely. No severe weather threat (although SPC has defined a “marginal” risk tonight from Memphis to Shreveport), and probably not much thunder. Rain amounts should be generally under 1/2 inch, although amounts will be higher over the Tennessee Valley of far North Alabama.

To the south, showers are a possibility tomorrow afternoon over the southern counties of our state, but rain there will be light and spotty. Highs tomorrow will be generally in the 60s.

The sky will clear tomorrow night, and sunshine returns Sunday; the day will be cooler with a high between 58 and 62 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: The weather next week looks very quiet; the 12Z GFS shows no rain for Alabama, with temperatures right at seasonal averages; generally we expect highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Coolest day will be Wednesday; some North Alabama communities might have a hard time getting out of the 40s, and upper 20s are possible by daybreak Thursday. Still no sign of any really cold, Arctic air for the next 15 days.
