RADAR CHECK: Nothing showing up on radar early this morning across Alabama, and the chance of measurable rain today will be small… although a little drizzle is not out of the question. But the clouds won’t be going anywhere, and today will be colder with most communities seeing a high only in the mid 40s. Some places over the Tennessee Valley of extreme North Alabama won’t get out of the 30s.

TOMORROW/THURSDAY: Not sure we see any sun on these days, although if we are lucky there might be a few breaks in the overcast. Despite the clouds, the chance of significant rain is very small… although a little drizzle is possible in spots. There might even be a touch of freezing drizzle early tomorrow over far North Alabama with temperatures dropping to near 30 degrees, but at the moment it doesn’t look like a “high impact” event.

Some light rain is possible near the Gulf Coast Thursday, but that won’t be an issue this far north. For North/Central Alabama, we expect a high in the upper 40s tomorrow, followed by low 50s Thursday.

BRIGHTER DAYS: We finally break out into a brighter pattern Friday, with subsidence bringing a sunny sky with a high in the mid 50s. Saturday will be a great day to kick off the weekend with a good supply of sunshine and a high in the low 60s. A low level northerly flow will bring slightly cooler air down in here Sunday, with the high dropping back just a bit into the upper 50s, but the sky will remain generally sunny.

NEXT WEEK: Medium range guidance continues to suggest our next decent rain event will come around Wednesday January 21, and still no sign of any extremely cold, Arctic air for Alabama for the next 15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and more details.
