Calm January Weather

RADAR CHECK: This has turned out to be a sunny day for most of Alabama, except the northwest corner of the state where clouds linger. Temperatures are mostly in the 50s; Tuscaloosa has reached 61 degrees at mid-afternoon.
Tomorrow will be another bright, sunny day with a high in the 50s. Then, on Thursday, there will be an increase in clouds, and a clipper system passing well to the north could squeeze out a few raindrops over North Alabama late in the day or Thursday night, but rain will be very light, and very spotty. A chance we reach the low 60s Thursday afternoon.
Then, on Friday and Saturday, our weather will be rain-free with seasonal temperatures; highs in the 50s, and lows in the 30s. Colder pockets could reach the upper 20s at daybreak Saturday.
RAIN RETURNS SUNDAY: Clouds will return late Saturday and Saturday night, and Sunday still looks like wet day for Alabama with amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch. No severe storms, and probably not much thunder. Just a rainy day.
NEXT WEEK: Colder and drier air settles in here Monday as highs drop into the 40s. A few snow flurries are possible early Monday morning over far North Alabama, but with no impact if they happen. The next wave brings more rain to the state later in the week, Wednesday night into Thursday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
