RADAR CHECK: Widespread rain continues along the Central Gulf Coast this afternoon, but the northern half of the state is dry.

Light rain is possible up to U.S. 80 this evening (Demopolis to Selma to Montgomery to Opelika), but our end of the state will remain dry.

LATE TONIGHT: A disturbance in the northern brach of the jet stream will bring the chance of a few snow flurries or patches of drizzle to North Alabama after midnight, but it will be another “no impact” situation as the precipitation will be very light and spotty. Flurries/drizzle will end by 8:00 a.m.

Tomorrow will be breezy and colder with a high in the mid 40s along with gradual clearing. A north wind of 10-20 mph will make it feel raw. By Friday morning, most communities will see a low down in the mid 20s… some of the colder valleys could reach the upper teens.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: A warming trend begins Friday afternoon… with sunshine in full supply we reach the mid 50s. Then, the weekend will be very comfortable with low 60s Saturday afternoon, and mid 60s Sunday. Saturday will feature a mostly sunny sky, and on Sunday we will enjoy sunshine through scattered clouds. Looks like we can drop that slight risk of a shower Sunday afternoon.

NEXT WEEK: A clipper/cold front combination will bring the chance of some light rain at times Monday, but amounts should be generally 1/4″ or less. Then, Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry with seasonal temperatures; highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

Still no sign of any real long lasting, bitterly cold air for Alabama through mid-month. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
