Dry Through The Weekend

| February 5, 2015 @ 12:18 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today… we are on the road to Cedar Bluff for tonight’s weather tour stop**

SUNNY, BUT COLD: Nothing but severe clear across Alabama this afternoon, but temperatures are only in the mid 40s with a chilly north wind averaging 10-20 mph. Tonight will feature a pretty good freeze; most places around here will see a low between 22 and 26 degrees early tomorrow, with upper teens possible for the colder valleys of North Alabama.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Very nice weather with a warming trend. Sunshine in full supply tomorrow and Saturday; we reach the mid 50s tomorrow, followed by low 60s Sunday. Then, on Sunday, the GFS is printing a high of 67 degrees for Birmingham with a partly sunny sky. It will be one of the warmest days so far in 2015 (the warmest temperature so far this year is 68, recorded on January 19).

NEXT WEEK: A clipper system will pass northeast of Alabama Monday, and it might squeeze out a shower somewhere, but moisture will be limited, and it looks like most communities will stay dry. Then, slightly cooler air returns Tuesday with highs dropping into the 50s. The rest of the week looks rather quiet; a cold front could bring a shower or two by Thursday, but it doesn’t look like a big rain event.

Global models do suggest we will see a shot of colder air toward the end of the week, around Friday February 13 and Saturday February 14.
