Check out the dewpoint parade this morning…

Birmingham 67
Muscle Shoals 63
Nashville 60

That drier air will continue to work southward today, and will set the stage for some very comfortable weather for mid-August through tomorrow. Highs in the 87 to 90 degree range, low humidity, and cool nights. We will drop into the low 60s early tomorrow and Sunday, and the cooler spots should get down into the 50s. We will be close to our record low of 60 early Sunday morning (set in 1953).

While most of the weekend will be dry, we will go ahead and mention the chance of a shower or storm late Sunday with moisture returning.

NEXT WEEK: Excessive heat won’t be a problem next week… on several days the high could be below 90 thanks to clouds and showers. We will go ahead and mention a chance of showers and storms each day; we will have to wait to fine tune that daily forecast as the situation becomes more clear, but, the idea is that a fairly moist airmass will hover over Alabama next week with a broad upper trough across the Deep South. I think some communities will pick up some decent rain amounts next week.

TROPICS: Sure it quite out there, although NOAA and Colorado State forecast teams have upped their hurricane forecast for the year.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. Brian Peters will post the show notes shortly… the new episode is up on the server now.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

I will have the next Weather Xtreme video posted here by 3:30 or so this afternoon… enjoy the day!
