Warnings Issued

The NWS in Hunstville has issued a Winter Storm Warning for its Tennessee Valley counties starting at 3 a.m. Thursday morning and going until 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

it includes:

Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, De Kalb, Jackson and Marshall.

The NWS in Birmingham has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for the following counties from 3 a.m. Thursday morning until 3 pm.m.. Thursday afternoon as well:

Bibb, Calhoun, Cherokee, Etowah, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter and Tuscaloosa.

The NWS Birmingham has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for Blount, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker and Winston Counties.

3/10s of an inch of ice accumulation is likely in the warning areas. Lesser ice accumulations will occur in the freezing rain advisory area, but will still be sufficient to cause travel problems. See below for James’ late morning thoughts.
