FRIGID FRIDAY MORNING: Birmingham is reporting 18 degrees at 6:00 a.m… that beats the record low for March 6… the old record was 19 set in 1960. Other pre-dawn temperatures include…

Haleyville 13
Cullman 14
Russellville 14
Black Creek (just northeast of Gadsden) 15
Bessemer 18
Gadsden 19
Center Point 19
Concord 19
Coker 20
Tuscaloosa 21
Anniston 23

We warm into the upper 40s today with a good supply of sunshine.

OUR WEEKEND: Tomorrow looks very nice; we start the day with a low in the 20s, but expect a nice warm-up with a high around 60 degrees with a sunny sky. The weather stays dry Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds and a high in the mid 60s. Some rain could push into the state Sunday night.

NEXT WEEK: A series of waves will keep the weather wet at times. Rain is likely late Monday, Monday night, and Tuesday morning, and another wave will bring a chance of rain Wednesday into Thursday. The sky will be mostly cloudy through the week with highs in the 60s. There might be some thunder along the way, but for now we don’t see any severe weather risk.

However, the 06Z GFS does show a potential setup for strong thunderstorms over the following weekend (March 14-15)… see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and more details.
