LIGHT RAIN OVER EAST ALABAMA: Light rain continues in areas east of I-65 this afternoon… this rain will exit this state this evening.

The sky will stay mostly cloudy tonight, but weather conditions will be mostly rain-free with only a small risk of a stray shower.

TOMORROW: We project a mix of sun and clouds with a high around 70 degrees; the chance of a shower during the day is very small; only about one in five for any given spot. The chance of rain will increase tomorrow night as short wave energy lifts out of Texas.

SUNDAY: This look like a very wet day with rain likely most of the day into Sunday night. The air will be cool and stable, so there is no risk of severe weather, and you probably won’t hear much thunder. Rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely.

NEXT WEEK: Rain ends Monday morning, and Tuesday and Wednesday look dry and pleasant with a decent amount of sunshine both days along with a high around 70 degrees. Showers, and possibly a few thunderstorms return by Thursday and Friday with the approach of a cold front. For now the severe weather threat looks fairly low.

We should also mention the GFS continues to advertise a sharp change to colder weather around March 28-29 with potential for a late season freeze… see the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: Tomorrow will be mostly dry on the Gulf Coast with only a few widely scattered showers and a few intervals of sunshine. Rain and thunderstorms are likely Sunday from Panama City west to Gulf Shores, then dry air returns early next week with clearing Monday, and mostly sunny conditions Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will remain around 70 degrees each day on the immediate coast, and sea water temperatures are mostly in the mid 60s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
