Tenacious Storms Moving Southwest – Watch Extended

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been extended until 10:00 p.m. for the following counties: Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Talladega, Tallapoosa.

Severe thunderstorms over East Alabama are producing hail and damaging winds. The strongest storm is between Tuskegee and Auburn. There is another strong storm north of Lineville. Another strong storm is southeast of Oxford. Hail is falling in the storm west of Auburn. Storms are affecting parts of Cleburne, Clay, Randolph, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Macon, and Lee Counties. Warnings are in effect ahead of the storms.

Be in a safe place as these dangerous storms approach. They will produce tree and power line damage and hail, as well as torrential rain and dangerous lightning. The atmosphere is stabilizing, but the storms should hold together until at least I-65 utilizing the remaining instability.
